Being a seaside town with a rural hinterland, a short country walk from anywhere in Criccieth will bring visitors into sheep and farming country, where rural pursuits are the order of the day...

Afonwen Working Farm & Pony Trekking Centre

Enjoy a ride through the fields, down to the lake or to the beach. Spectacular views over Cardigan Bay. Beach rides, school rides, group rides, evening  rides. Half-hour or 1-2 hour treks. Follow the farm trail and visit the bird hide by the lake. Open 10 a.m. to late Booking advisable.

Lake & River Fishing
There are two managed lakes in Criccieth, where visitors can enjoy a peaceful day of coarse fishing: Bron Eifion Fishing Lake and the newly made Llyn Cedron lake at Eisteddfa, Pentrefelin. Dwyfor Rabbit Farm

Visitors are welcome to the farm where they will see rabbits of various breeds and meet friendly farm animals such as ponies, lambs and kids. There is ample shelter on a rainy day as a large number of the rabbits are at home in farm buildings. Children are allowed to handle baby rabbits and sheepdog puppies, feed farmyard animals and poultry under supervision. Free pony-and-trap ride. Light refreshments available at the farmyard.

Criccieth Fair
An interesting combination of street market and amusement ground, Criccieth Fair is held once in May and again in June. The whole of Y Maes, as the Village Green is called, is turned over to this traditional event, where even in the days of modern communications, country folk come to shop and hear the news of their friends, neighbours and extended families.

Brynkir Woollen Mill

A 150 year old working mill open to visitors. Set in the heart of the countryside here is an opportunity you should not miss. See the machines involved in the fascinating process of making Welsh woollens for yourself.

Mill shop with "probably the largest selection of Welsh woollens in the whole of Wales". Please phone for opening days and times of this working mill. Children must be accompanied by their parents.
